Larbert Stroke Group
Survivors of serious illnesses like strokes live with its effects long after it happens to them, but local groups are on hand to help them lead full and active lives.
Larbert Stroke Group meets every week offering people support and a friendly place to socialise with other local residents who suffer from the condition.
The group has been helping people since 1997 and has around 14 regular members who take advantage of the facilities.
Group co-ordinator Melanie Smith said: “We are quite a lively group and are always doing something stimulating. We have regular entertainment and outings to the likes of Blair Drummond Safari Park.
“It’s a self-supporting group. People don’t have to discuss their illness but can do so if they want and we can offer advice and support. It’s very social over tea, coffee and sandwiches.”
The group is in need of new volunteers, especially those who can drive to help members.
