The Cando Group

Bainsford and Langlees residents are showing they have a ‘Can Do’ attitude when it comes to promoting and improving their community.

The Cando Group get involved in and spearhead many projects in the area and have received several accolades for their tireless work, including a Scottish Learning Partnership award.

The award came with a ‘Learning Experience Voucher’ which members used to take part in glass fusion workshop with local artist Andrea Easton.

The group is active in many activities like national biodiversity mapping and were involved in a video project filming a company taking down and erecting a new bridge.

Members also take part in and encourage children to do litter picks and have been developing a piece of land in Cobblebrae Woodland after securing a £3600 donation from one of its many partners BAM Nuttal.

An offshoot group - Dads Cando2 - has developed where local dads get involved in community projects like making bogeys for kids for the gala day race.

Co-ordinator Michelle Brown said: “They are a very hard-working group who deserve enormous credit for improving their community.”
