Slamannan Pathfinder Project
Sectarianism blights most areas in Scotland but one Braes group is working to help stamp out bigotry in its local community.
The Slamannan Pathfinder Project is a community-led initiative which started last year January with an aim of developing positive ways of building good relations by exploring and addressing the issues of sectarianism.
The steering group is an informal one made up of local residents. There are 22 members with a dozen frequently active working together to make Slamannan a welcoming, inclusive and active community. The group offers members a chance to take part in different workshops held in the community centre with sessions tailored to the needs of the community.
Members also organise informal community get-together events and involve local primary and high school pupils and members of Slamannan Youth Club in educational sessions where they explore sectarian issues.
Drama facilitators in partnership with the group work with the children to prepare plays highlighting sectarianism that are performed to the local community.
