All Falkirk Council’s gritters are in action this evening as heavy snow hits the district.

There have been flurries throughout the day but they got heavier around 6 p.m. and the forecast is for more of the same tomorrow.

There are hazardous conditions on many of the area’s roads and journeys are taking much longer than usual.

Police are advising drivers to plan ahead before they set off and check weather forecasts.

Chief Inspector Louise Blakelock said: “There is a risk of localised disruption to travel likely throughout Thursday.
“If you are travelling you should ensure you and your vehicle are adequately prepared.

‘‘Charge your mobile phone and plan your route in advance, as well as alternatives.”
