A former Grangemouth top cop has taken on a new role.
Superintendent Gordon Dawson is the new Area Commander for Stirling and Clackmannanshire.
He has previously held a number of roles with Central Scotland Police, including Detective Chief Inspector responsible for the crime and drugs unit, Grangemouth Sub Area Commander and the force’s Director of Intelligence.
The new Area Commander started his police career 27 years ago as a constable in Bo’ness.
Supt Dawson is recognised nationally for his work on internet safety and is a graduate of the Open University with a Bachelor of Law (Hons).
Following his appointment, he said: “Our communities have made it clear they want to have officers who are highly visible to them.
“I am fully committed to delivering a quality police service that is influenced by local needs and that means having the right number of officers, in the right places, at the right time.”
He replaces Superintendent Alan Douglas who has been promoted to Temporary Chief Superintendent with responsibilities for Specialist Operations and Governance.
