Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs is holding an information afternoon to show people the kind of support they have available. Walks leave from the Community Education Unit, Grangemouth Sports complex every Monday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. If you or someone you know is having problems with their balance come along to our Wednesday walk where you will be shown mobility, strength and balance exercises (Otago). Sunday’s service was conducted by Rev Lorna MacDougall. Our Girls’ Brigade were in attendance and during the service Louise Frickleton was commissioned as Captain and Victoria Hardie was commissioned as Lieutenant. The Summer Sunday Club will run from June 29 - August 17 August during the morning service and the theme is ‘Come to Rome’. All children and youths are invited to come along and enjoy the fun. The next Monthly Lunch will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 11.30 a.m.-1.30 p.m., cost £3. Summer services from now until August 17 will commence at the earlier time of 10.30 a.m. Please note that the September Communion Services will be held on September 14, and not as listed on the church calendar. Morning Worship next Sunday will be at 10.30 a.m. Tea and coffee will be served after the service and there will be Vestry Hour consultation.
President Colin Bird welcomed a large turnout of members plus Assistant Governor Agnes Ritchie to the club on Thursday, before handing the meeting over to President Elect Jim Stirling to conduct the business of the Club Assembly. Jim outlined his plans for the club over the coming year and asked the various convenors to outline their programmes for the year for the club’s approval. The club approved the new and innovative plans put forward and the members look forward to an exciting and busy year ahead. Assistant Governor Agnes thanked the club for inviting her and congratulated Jim and the club on past achievements and wished it well in a most ambitious programme for his year as President of the club. Jim takes over the reins on Thursday and is holding his inaugural President’s Lunch on Saturday, July 5. Members of the club, under the direction of President Colin attended the Grangemouth Children’s Day on Saturday to host the ever popular Beat the Goalie competition which went down well and helped raise some funds.
Classes continues every Monday and Wednesday at Newlands /Beancross Hall Grangemouth (just before the TA centre) . Both classes are 11-15 a.m.-12 p.m. Zumba Gold is a class suitable for beginners to exercise, active older participants or those seeking a lower pace/ impact zumba class. Zumba with Carol usually held at Grangemouth Town Hall on Mondays and Wednesdays 7-8 p.m. will be temporarily held at Grangemouth High School until Monday, July 14, due to yearly maintenance of the Town hall. The service in Kirk of the Holy Rood on Sunday, June 29 will be conducted by the Minister at 11 a.m. The Summer Walking Group is on every Tuesday - all walks leave from KHR car park at 6:30 p.m. prompt - the walk on July 1, to New Carron Community. Donations for the Nearly New Shop August 4 - 9, can now be accepted on Wednesday mornings between 10-noon.
