Rotary Meeting

Outstanding footballers aplenty have been born and raised in Grangemouth, ranging from George Brown of Rangers and Scotland fame to Stuart Kennedy, formerly of Falkirk, Aberdeen and Scotland, yet not one has ever been capped as a schoolboy internationalist. That nugget of information came as a surprise to members of the Rotary Club of Grangemouth last week as it was disclosed by former schoolteacher Stuart Taylor, himself a Portonian and, more to the point, a stalwart figure for many years of the Scottish Schools’ Football Association, a role which has seen him take in schools’ football in numerous countries. The vote of thanks was offered by Brian Brown. At the close of his first full meeting as president, Nigel Harris presented Stanley Gray with his diploma, signed by the world president of Rotary International, for his dedicated 40 years service to the club and movement. On Sunday President Nigel welcomed members and their spouses to the incoming president’s lunch at the Leapark Hotel.
