The rapidly changing developments in news-gathering and newspaper production provided Jill Buchanan, editor of The Falkirk Herald, with much to enlighten members of the Rotary Club of Grangemouth at its last meeting. Jill, who began her newspaper career on the former Falkirk and Grangemouth Advertiser, captivated her listeners, among them past-president Colin Mailer, her first editor. The vote of thanks was proposed by Andy Finlayson. Nigel Harris, refreshed from his holiday, was in the chair. From beginning his working life in a foundry to running a photo-copying business found Sandy Muir entertaining fellow members the previous week. His “My Job” talk, which is mandatory for all new Rotarians, was extremely well received. The vote of thanks on that occasion was offered by Jim Bennie. Making a most welcome appearance following a lengthy absence through ill-health was club member Alex. Robertson. President elect Allan Graham was in the chair.
