The funeral service for tragic heart transplant patient Louise Gardiner takes place this Wednesday, January 8.
Family and friends will gather at Falkirk Crematorium at 2 p.m. for the service which her parents, Tom and Miriam, have vowed will be “a celebration of her life”.
Louise (29) was born with a congenital heart condition and underwent countless operations over the years.
On October 31 she was given a heart transplant at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital which initially went well but liver and bowel complications saw the vivacious young woman lose her fight for life on December 21.
Her parents, who also have a son David (22), tragically lost their elder daughter Lesley in a car crash nine years ago when she was 23.
Speaking from the family’s Rumford home, Miriam said: “Louise had a great thirst for life and was one of these people who always saw the best in everyone.
“She wanted the transplant to let her live all her dreams.
“We were anxious about it but she knew the risks and was determined to go ahead with it. We had to respect her wishes.”
