The weather was kind to teams taking part in the Strathcarron Hospice ‘It’s a Knockout’ event even if the water sloshed inflatable obstacle course was not.
Thrills and spills joined forces with fun and laughter as well over 100 competitors from all walks of life launched themselves up and down slippery slopes in silly costumes in an effort to win the coveted title and raise a ton of cash for the hospice at the same time.
Decked out in their bright bee and wasp-attracting orange t-shirts, with team names like Delirious, Fit Club Fanatics, The Randoms and Ashlea’s Chicks on the back, participants battled the course, each other and mischievous “It’s A Knockout” minions who made the going extra tough in the grounds of Callendar House last Sunday.
The eventual champs of the morning competition were Boobs and Tubes, but the big winners were the hospice and the people it supports and cares for.
While the final total raised by Sunday’s event is still to be arrived at, with money still coming in, organisers hope it will exceed £20,000 because the great weather and prime location in the heart of Falkirk helped bring out hundreds of spectators.
Coleena Brodie, Strathcarron community fundraiser said: “It was an ideal location and the weather was terrific.” attracting lots of visitors. We actually ran out of burgers and buns and had to go and get more.
“The day was just a phenomenal success for the hospice.”
