The wedding of Laura Donaghy and Rik Toner
THE COUPLE: Laura Donaghy is 33 and an occupational therapist, while Rik Toner is 33 and a design engineer. The couple live in Falkirk with one-year-old daughter Sadie.
HOW THEY MET: Mutual friend invited Laura to a New Year party at Rik’s house. The pair hit it off and starting dating a few months later.
THE PROPOSAL: Rik popped the question when the couple and their parents were enjoying a barbecue.
THE WEDDING: The wedding was held on June 4 at Kilbryde Castle near Doune. The civil ceremony took place outside in the castle gardens and a reception was held in a marquee. Laura arrived in VW campervan. There were 130 daytime guests and a further 70 evening guests joined the celebrations later.
THE WEDDING PARTY: Laura’s chief bridesmaid was Lindsay McAdam and the bridesmaids, who wore ivory lace shift dresses, were Nikki Steele and Jilly Chalmers. Rik’s best man was Iain Whittington, and the ushers were Craig Valentine, Graham McQueen, Peter Moodie and Ryan Gilmour. The couple’s daughter was a flower girl along with Laura’s niece Kiera Donaghy (3).
THE DRESS: Laura wore an ivory lace and chiffon strapless gown by Augusta Jones, which she bought at Frasers.
THE HONEYMOON: The newlyweds spent four days in Venice then went on to the Glastonbury Festival in Somerset.
