The box office at the bottom of Falkirk’s iconic Steeple is to close for good.

The box office at the bottom of Falkirk’s iconic Steeple is to close for good.

The office is used by Falkirk Community Trust for people to book and pick up tickets for events at venues such as the Town Halls in Falkirk, Bo’ness and Grangemouth, the Hippodrome in Bo’ness and The Park Gallery.

The box office has been undergoing renovation work but will not re-open for the same purpose.

A spokeswoman for Falkirk Community Trust said: “Full box office services and staff will be retained, operating from Falkirk Stadium, and by telephone and online.

“Falkirk Council and the trust will continue to work together to secure a viable end use for the Steeple including the ground floor.”

The future of other public buildings run by the trust, including Grangemouth Town Hall and Hallglen Sports Centre, have come under threat from cuts with around 60 jobs at risk. The trust has to make savings of around £1.2 million this year and is expected to cut opening hours at venues.
