Falkirk’s Phones 4U closed

Falkirk’s Phones 4U stores are closed today following an announcement that the retailer has gone into administration.

The Howgate store, which employs seven people, opened in July 2012 after relocating from a smaller unit in the shopping centre because it was so busy.

There is also a branch inside Currys PC World at Central Retail Park.

All Phones 4U’s 550 branches have been told to close today, and its 5500 staff have been told to await news from management.

Bosses have said that the decision was taken after EE and Vodaphone “unexpectedly” withdrew its supply.

Phones 4U has said it is seeking administrators who will decide if the business can continue trading.
