Falkirk district schools are all open as normal today and main roads are clear despite heavy snowfall during the night.

Council gritting teams have cleared main routes and are moving on to secondary roads and streets this morning.

More snowfall is expected later today.

A council spokesman said: “Footway snow clearance work is also being undertaken in town centre areas and routes to schools and hospitals.

“This work will continue throughout the day. It is hoped that once primary routes are clear treatment will progress to secondary routes.

“Grit in grit bins will be replenished throughout the day. There are over 1000 bins so please have reasonable expectations of what we can achieve.”
