The Helix Park has won two major UK environmental
 accolades.

Site owners Falkirk Council and building firm Balfour Beatty picked up the gongs at the UK Green Apple Awards, announced in London this week.

The council took gold in the local authorities’ community category for its support of the project, which was in association with Scottish Canals and received Big Lottery and Scottish Government funding.

Balfour Beatty won silver in the building and construction regeneration category for its work on the £43 million project.

Councillor Adrian Mahoney said the council was delighted with the latest awards. He added: “Of course the real winners are the public and the visitors who have a fantastic new park to enjoy, dominated by the Kelpies.”
