Planners voted to let Dart Energy drill an exploratory borehole near a small village in the Falkirk area.

During a meeting of Falkirk Council’s planning committee members stated issues surrounding Dart’s proposals to extract coal bed methane on land near Airth, the subject of a public inquiry currently being evaluated by government ministers, had no bearing on the plan in front of them, which looked to allow a coal sample to be taken on land to the north east of Grangeview, near Skinflats. Due to the bird breeding season, a condition was made no construction would take place on site between October and February.
