Concerned parents are up-in-arms over a cost-cutting proposal that could see children spend less time in the classroom.

Falkirk Council will cut the school week from 25 to 22.5 hours in 2016/17 if it fails to make £1.91 million of savings elsewhere.

But council leader, Councillor Craig Martin, has given an assurance it will be “a last resort” and has vowed to write to every parent to explain the situation in
detail.

An online petition against the move has already attracted over 2500 signatories. A rally has also been planned for Saturday, February 28 at the
Kelpies.
