Strollers

If you are a new mum why not come along to the buggy group. As well as meeting other mums, being out in the fresh air and getting fitter, mums share information. Your local health visitor is also on hand to deal with any questions or concerns you may have. The group meets every Monday 12.30 p.m. at the car park opposite the Greenbank centre. The walk takes about 40 minutes. After the walk mums go back to the church hall where there is a very well run baby group. For more information contact Barbara McConnell on (01324) 504568/556 stepforth@falkirkcommunitytrust.org.

Old Parish

With the larger than nrmal congregation Ian Mclean our Session clerk advised that David Wandrum the locum minister will effectively be the minister for the foreseeable future and that he is here to support the church, the congregation and the community. At the start of the service David said he was delighted to see the commitment to the church by the size of the congregation and was pleased to welcome a number of newcomers. He also announced that he will be holding an Open Vestry Hour on a Tuesday night in the church at 7-8 p.m. If you need the services of the minister please call in to see him. Tickets for the Boys Brigade Burns supper this Friday in the Greenpark Centre are all sold, many thanks to everyone who have bought tickets. The Fellowship’s social evening to raise funds for charity is on February 10. It was announced that hopefully the story club will be reintroduced in April – more information will be available soon. On Sunday, Morning Service conducted by Rev David Wandrum is at 11 a.m. in Church; choir practice at 9.45 a.m.; Prayer Meeting in the Vestry at 10.30 a.m.; Youth Church meets in church at 11 a.m.; Creche in the Fellowship Room at 11 a.m. On duty are M Slatter and D Dagger. Fellowship Dates for your Diary: Monday, February 10 is a fundraising evening in support of our national projects to help homeless people in Scotland and Rwanda. Professional performers will present “Here’s tae us…” a Scottish evening with a difference – plus a few surprises! Tickets (£5) will be on sale shortly. Elders Away Day will be held on Saturday, February 8 in the Church Hall from 9.30-3 p.m. Please inform the Session Clerk of your attendance as soon as possible as lunch will be provided and has to be ordered soon. Friendship Group – anyone who is interested in being part of a widowed/singles friendship group meeting approximately monthly for outings, meals etc should contact either Helen Jeffrey or Doreen Baxter. If there is enough interest a programme will be drawn up.

Gingerbread Cafe

Would you like to get involved in the Gingerbread Cafe Steering group? Are you looking for a new challenge? Do you have a skill or enthusiasm and would like to be involved in a fun community project? Would you like to develop your skills or learn new ones? Would you like to meet other like-minded people over delicious cake? Then the Gingerbread Cafe in Polmont needs you! They believe that, as it is a community cafe, the community should be involved at every step. So they hope to get a group of people who are prepared to meet one evening a month and help them make the cafe and community better. It might be that you have experience of HR, or H&S or anything else. Or it might be that you just have a willing heart. All are welcome. An information evening is on Tuesday, February 11 from 7-8 p.m. at the cafe. Free cake is provided at the meetings.
