The next meeting of Central Scotland Family History Society is on Wednesday, February 12 at 7.30 p.m. at the Smith Art Gallery and Museum, Stirling. There is a talk on ‘Criminals and the Constabulary: the Archives of Strathclyde Police and its predecessors’ by Elaine MacGillivray, Archivist, Glasgow Life Strathclyde Police Archives. Tea and biscuits will be available after the talk providing an opportunity for people to meet others who share an enthusiasm for family history. Non-members are welcome though there is a small charge of £2.

Scottish Opera

Friends of Scottish Opera’s speaker this month Derek Watson, on Verdi’s Macbeth. Derek offers a combination of erudition and performance skills: he is an actor as well as a writer and speaker on music, and a composer. The event is on Sunday, February 16, at 2.30 p.m. at Smith Art Gallery, All welcome. Members £5, visitors £6, students £1.
