Like to walk but not on your own? Want to get fit but don’t know where to start? Why not join a walking group and meet new friends. This walk leaves the Grange centre every Thursday at 10 a.m. There is now a new walk leader. Table tennis

Brightons Over-50s Table Tennis Club is looking for new members. Even if you have never played before, provided you have acquired a skill at another racquet sport, you will pick it up quite quickly. They play at the Grange Community Centre at Brightons on Friday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon. For further details, contact the centre on (01324) 503580 or Ian on (01324) 714413.

Parish Church

Last Sunday the minister, Rev. Murdo Campbell, led the service at 11 a.m. The monthly evening service at 6.30 p.m. was led by the Friends of Jesus Group. This Sunday the minister will lead the worship at 11 a.m. Tonight the Congregational Prayer Time takes place in the small hall at 7.45 p.m. All articles for the next issue of Bright lights should be with the editorial team (brightlights@brightonschurch.org.uk) by this Sunday. The next Guild meeting will take place this Monday, February 10, at 7.30 p.m. when the guest speaker will be Rev. Ronald Thomson, who will talk about the “Julius Project”, one of the projects the Guild is currently supporting. A further series of three prayer taster sessions will take place, the first being on Wednesday, February 12 between 7.30-8.30 p.m. over a cup of tea, coffee and cake in the small hall. Congratulations go to the Boys’ Brigade Company Section boys who took part in the Battalion Cross at Callendar Park last Saturday, in particular Aaron Callahan and Ross Callahan who won the Junior and Senior event respectively. On Saturday, February 15, the Social Committee has organised a Valentine’s Ceilidh from 7-11 p.m. in the halls. Tickets priced £7, including a light supper, are available from Irene Cameron, after this Sunday’s service. The Kirk Session will meet on Tuesday, February 18 at 7.45 p.m. in the Rankine Hall. Door duty this Sunday will be by Moira Alexander, Maralyn Stirling, Margaret Scott, Margo Graham, Jean Meek and Jim Stirling. The creche will be manned by Mary Munro, Alison Cassells and Lorraine Campbell.
