Denny Old

The Guild trip takes place on Saturday and the bus leaves the school layby at 10.30 a.m. Please note there will be no Crafty Café this week but it will take place next Saturday when Linda will be demonstrating sweetie making. Worship on Sunday is at 11 a.m. and will be led by Rev. John Murning. This will be Rev. Murning’s last Service before leaving for Paisley. Creche facilities are available, and the Sunday Club meets at the same time. The Lunch Box is now taking a break for the summer and will resume on August 18. Our thanks go to all who have come along and supported us during the past year. The church walking group meets on Tuesday evening and leaves the church at 7 p.m. You are welcome to come along and enjoy a gentle walk for about an hour. The Melrose holiday is now fully booked and deposits are now due to be paid. Please see Linda or Stuart Assur as soon as possible.

Westpark Church

Worship on Sunday will be at 10.30 a.m. and led by Rev. Phyllis Wilson when we will celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Kidzone take part at the start of the service then move to the halls to enjoy their own activities. Creche facilities are also available. All church group details on the church website. The Wednesday Welcome is open from 10 a.m. for fellowship over tea or coffee followed by a short service from 11.15 - 11.45 a.m. Please note that the Open Door is open on a Thursday from 10.30 a.m. - 1 p.m. for tea, coffee and lunch. There is a choice of two soups, main course, sandwiches, sweet or fruit loaf at reasonable prices. All welcome.

Baptist Church

Many of the young people will be at the Baptist Union sports day at Stirling University on Saturday from 11 a.m. onwards. Spectators welcome to encourage the Denny team. The services on Sunday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. will be led by Rev. Norman Graham with communion being held during the morning service. Visitors are always welcome. Children and young people meet at 11.20 a.m. and a crèche is available during all services. Rainbow Hour for over sixes are having their summer outing on Tuesday to Sterling Mills and afternoon tea at the Butterfly restaurant, leaving the church at 1.15 p.m. The church AGM is on Wednesday, June 4 at 7.30 p.m.

Dunipace Scouts

9th Dunipace scout group’s AGM will be held on Thursday, May 29 at 7 p.m. Everyone welcome to come along. Hope to see all scouts, cubs and beavers there as well as parents. Dunipace Scouts raised £102.51 at their stocks stall at last week’s Denny Gala. The leaders have survived the soaking and we hope everyone enjoyed taking part. Thanks to Laurie and Michelle for spending the day getting wet.

Citizens Advice

The bureau is located above Clydesdale Bank at 24 Duke Street, Denny and is open today (Thursday), Friday, Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. A legal clinic is held every four weeks on Wednesdays by appointment only (4-5 p.m.). Outreach clinics are held at the Community Education Wing at Bankier Primary School today (Thursday) from 10 a.m.-noon, at Bridge Crescent Community Flat on Tuesday from 9.30 a.m.-noon and Denny Parish Church Hall on Wednesday from 9.30 a.m.-11.30 a.m. Sessions to complete online benefit applications are held at the Community Education Wing at Bankier Primary School on Thursday from 10 a.m.-noon and the Bridge Crescent Community Flat on Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. Telephone service (Citizens Advice Direct) available Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on (01324) 823118.

Buggy Group

Quiz Night

A fundraiser at Denny Bowling Club on Friday, May 23 raised a fantastic £1201. The night was in aid of two local teenagers from Denny, Michael Brown (18) and Sophie Ogilvie (14) who have both been selected to represent GB in the under-23 junior canoe slalom championships in Macedonia this summer. Thanks to all who doanted.
