Denny Old

The buses for Mr Murning’s induction will leave the school layby tonight (Thursday) at 5.30 p.m. prompt. Cost is £7.50, pay on the bus. The Crafty Café meets this Saturday at 10 a.m. when Linda will be demonstrating sweetie making. Come along and learn a new craft, or just pop in for a coffee. Cost £2 per person. The worship on Sunday is at 11 a.m. and will be led by the Sunday Club, when their prizes will be presented. This will be followed by a lunch in the hall. The church walking group meets on Tuesday evening and leaves the church at 7 p.m. You are welcome to come along and enjoy a gentle walk for about an hour. The Congregational Board will meet on Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. in the hall. Deposits for the Melrose holiday are now due. There are a few places still available and if you are interested in going please see Linda Assur as soon as possible. All articles for the June edition of the Church magazine should be passed to Elinor Clunie as soon as possible please. All intimations to be passed to Janet Rhodes by Thursday evening at the latest.

Westpark Church

Worship on Sunday begins at 10.30 a.m. will be led by the Rev. Phyllis Wilson, celebrating Pentecost. Kidzone take part at the start of the service then move to the halls to enjoy their own activities. Creche facilities are also available. The Wednesday Welcome is open from 10 a.m. for fellowship over tea or coffee followed by a short service from 11.15-11.45 a.m. Please note that the Open Door is open today (Thursday) from 10.30 a.m.-1 p.m. on for tea, coffee and lunch. There is a choice of two soups, main course, sandwiches, sweet or fruit loaf at reasonable prices. All welcome.

Baptist church

The services on Sunday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. will be led by the Rev. Norman Graham. Visitors are always welcome. Children and young people meet during the morning worship and a creche is available during all services. Toddlers groups are having their summer outings on June 12 and 13 which will be the last group gatherings until the new sessions start in August. The Point Youth clubs meet on Friday, June 13 at 6 p.m. for juniors and at 7.30 p.m. for seniors.

Citizens Advice

The bureau is located above Clydesdale Bank at 24 Duke Street, Denny and is open today (Thursday), Friday, Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. A legal clinic is held every four weeks on Wednesdays by appointment only (4-5 p.m.). Outreach clinics are held at the Community Education Wing at Bankier Primary School today (Thursday) from 10 a.m.-noon, at Bridge Crescent Community Flat on Tuesday from 9.30 a.m.-noon and Denny Parish Church Hall on Wednesday from 9.30 a.m.-11.30 a.m. Sessions to complete online benefit applications are held at the Community Education Wing at Bankier Primary School on Thursday from 10–12 noon and the Bridge Crescent Community Flat on Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. Telephone service (Citizens Advice Direct) available Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on (01324) 823118.

Drop-in centre

The Drop In is open every Friday in the YMCA Hall, West Boreland Road from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. This week there will be another chance for everyone to try glass painting. There will also be ladies, gents and kids clothing on offer. Local people can drop in , get a cuppa, read the daily papers, pick up a book, watch a dvd or play pool. There is a noticeboard with information on various areas of support. If you would like to volunteer or donate items please contact 07745 205007.

Men’s club

The Dunipace Church men’s group outing to Girvan takes place this Saturday and pick up points are: Dunipace P.O. 9.30 a.m., Denny P.O. 9.35 a.m., Spine Road, Pines, 9.40 a.m., Bonnybridge, Larbert Road, 9.45 a.m.

Buggy Group

Line dancing

Next class takes place tomorrow (Friday) in the Broompark Centre from 1-2 p.m. Beginners and improvers welcome.

Puppy classes

Puppy training and socialisation classes starting in Fankerton Village Hall on Monday, July 7 from 7-8 p.m. Classes run for six weeks. Easy fun learning for the whole family. Places are limited to eight so must be booked. Training classes for older pups also available with places limited to six pups.
