Denny Old

The Guild summer rally is being held in Condorrat Parish Church tonight (Thursday) at 7.30 p.m. Anyone needing transport please speak to Janet. The Guild outing to St Andrews takes place on Saturday and the bus will leave Denny Primary School at 10 a.m. Worship on Sunday is at 11 a.m. and will be led by Sandra Mathers. Creche facilities will be available, and the Sunday Club meets at the same time. The Lunch Box will be open on Monday from 11 a.m.-1.30 p.m., serving soup, sandwiches, tea/coffee and home baking. All welcome. The Lunch Box will then be taking a break for the summer, opening up again in August. Walking group meets at the church on Tuesday at 7 p.m. You are most welcome to come along and join the group, the walks are gentle and suitable for everyone to enjoy. If it is raining at 6.30 p.m. the walk will not take place. All intimations for Sunday service to be with Janet Rhodes by Thursday night at the latest.

Westpark Church

On Sunday, June 7 the Rev. David Wandrum will lead worship at 10.30 a.m. when we will celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Kidzone take part at the start of the service then move to the halls to enjoy their own activities. Creche facilities are also available. The Wednesday Welcome is open from 10 a.m. for fellowship over tea or coffee followed by a short service from 11.15-11.45 a.m. Open Door from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today (Thursday). Come along and enjoy a snack. All welcome.

Baptist Church

The services on Sunday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. will be led by the Rev. Norman Graham. Visitors are always welcome. Communion will be held during the morning service and nine new people will be welcomed into church membership. The congregation has been invited to a light lunch in the church organised by the local Tennant’s Association from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be various stalls of interest for local people.

Citizens Advice

The bureau is located above Clydesdale Bank at 24 Duke Street and is open today (Thursday), Friday, Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. A legal clinic is held every four weeks on Wednesdays by appointment only (4-5 p.m.). Outreach clinics are held at the Archibald Russell Centre (today) 10 a.m.-noon, Bridge Crescent Community Flat on Tuesday from 9.30 a.m.-noon and Denny Parish Church Hall on Wednesday from 9.30-11.30 a.m. Telephone service (Citizens Advice Direct) available Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on (01324) 823118.

Record Attempt

Denny YMCA will take part in a world record attempt on Saturday in the Gala Park. Sister groups around the world will be taking penalty kicks. To take part, you must register at 11.30 a.m. A crossbar challenge will be held afterwards.

Masonic News

A deputation from Lodge St. Andrew (Denny & Loanhead) No.176 will travel to Saltcoats tonight (Thursday) to confer the second degree at Lodge Neptune (Kilwinning) No. 442. The minibus will leave the Lodge at 6.15 p.m. Members of the lodge will also be travelling to Manchester on Friday for the funeral of W.Bro Frank Gorrie of the Duke of Atholl Lodge.

WASP Classes

Men’s Guild

Dunipace Church Men’s Guild has an outing to St Andrew’s on Saturday, picking up at 9.30 a.m. from Dunipace paper shop; 9.35 a.m. Denny Post Office; 9.40 a.m. The Pines; 9.50 a.m. Larbert Road, Bonnybridge. Seats are still available, please contact Angus Cameron on (01324) 821136 to book.

Line Dancing

Next class takes place tomorrow (Friday) from 1-2 p.m. in Broompark Centre. Beginners and improvers welcome.
