Denny Old

Worship on Sunday is at 11 a.m. and will be led by Sandra Mathers. Creche facilities will be available, and the Sunday Club meets at the same time. The Lunch Box is now taking a break for summer and will resume in August. The Walking Group meets at the church on Tuesday at 7 p.m. You are most welcome to come along and join the group, the walks are gentle and suitable for everyone to enjoy. If it is raining at 6.30 p.m. the walk will not take place. All intimations for Sunday Service to be with Janet Rhodes by tonight (Thursday) at the latest.

Baptist Church

The Point youth clubs meet tomorrow (Friday) at 6 p.m. for juniors and 7.30 p.m. for seniors. The guest speaker on Sunday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. is Mark Donaldson from Peterhead. Visitors are always welcome. The children and young people meet during the morning worship. Prayer groups meet at various venues during the week.

Citizens Advice

The bureau is located above Clydesdale Bank at 24 Duke Street, Denny, and is open today (Thursday), Friday, Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. A legal clinic is held every four weeks on Wednesdays by appointment only (4-5 p.m.). Outreach clinics are held at the Archibald Russell Centre (today) 10 a.m.-noon, Bridge Crescent Community Flat on Tuesday from 9.30 a.m.-noon and Denny Parish Church hall on Wednesday from 9.30 a.m.-11.30 a.m. Telephone service (Citizens Advice Direct) available Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on (01324) 823118.

Credit Union

Savings are safe with Falkirk District Credit Union and low cost loans are available once regular savings established. Anyone who lives or works in the area within the boundary of Falkirk Council can join, junior savers welcome. Burns Club

Denny Cross Burns Club is pleased to announce the winners of the Denny High School essay competition. First prize is awarded to Erin Munn for her essay ‘What does it mean to be Scottish’. Second prize to Olivia Anderson and ‘Scotland’, and third prize to Rhianne Ferguson and ‘Escape to Scotland’. Past president Martin McMenemy thanked all the students who took part and gave our judging a panel a very hard task indeed. The club now looks forward to the awards being presented at the annual prize giving ceremony. The club finished its season with the annual drive and a visit to the Hollow Mountain at Cruachan on Loch Awe courtesy of Scottish Power with a fabulous guided tour of the hydro power station deep in the mountain. The trip was finished with an evening stop at the Argyll Hotel in Inverary.

WASP Classes

Wine Club

The monthly meeting of Denny wine club will take place in Broompark Centre tomorrow evening (Friday) and subsequently on the second Friday of each month. Come and learn all aspects of wine making from basic to advanced levels. New members are always welcome. Come and try this challenging and rewarding hobby.

Line Dancing

Next class takes place tomorrow (Friday) at the Broompark Centre, Denny, from 1-2 p.m. Beginners and improvers welcome.
