Denny Old

The senior citizens’ dinner will be held this Saturday, meeting at 1 p.m. for 1.30 p.m. If you are eligible and have not received a form please let Janet Rhodes or your Elder know as soon as possible. Janet can be contacted on (01324) 824721. Worship on Sunday is at 11 a.m. and will be led by Sandra Mathers. The Sunday Club meets at the same time and there will be crèche facilities. The Lunch Box is open on Monday from 11 a.m.-1.30 p.m. for soup, sandwiches, tea/coffee and home baking. All welcome. The Girls’ Brigade meets on Monday at 6.30 p.m. in the hall, and is open to all girls of school age. Elders are reminded to pick up their district lists from the front of the church and let Jim Thomson know of any changes. The Christmas shoppers’ lunch last Saturday was very successful and raised the wonderful sum of £770. The Guild extends a big ‘thank you’ to all who supported this event and made this possible. All intimations for Sunday service should be with Janet Rhodes by tonight (Thursday) at the latest.

Westpark Church

The service on Sunday will be led by Rev. Phyllis Wilson. Kidzone take part at the start of the service then move to the halls to enjoy their own activities. Creche facilities are also available. The Wednesday Welcome is open from 10 a.m. for fellowship over tea or coffee followed by a short service from 11.15 - 11.45 a.m. Please note that the Open Door is open from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for Christmas lunch today (Thursday) and will then be closed until January 15. A coffee morning will be held this Saturday from 10 a.m.-noon. Admission £2, all welcome.

Baptist Church

The Point youth clubs meet tomorrow (Friday) at 6 p.m. for the juniors and at 7.30 p.m. for 11 plus ages. The 11 a.m. service on Sunday will be led by the Rev. Norman Graham. At 6 p.m. everyone is invited to an all age Christmas celebration with the children of J Kids followed by tea/coffee/ juice and cakes. Visitors will be made most welcome.

Citizens Advice

The bureau is located above Clydesdale Bank at 24 Duke Street and is open today (Thursday), Friday, Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Outreach clinics are held at the Community Education Wing at Bankier Primary School today (Thursday) from 10 a.m.-noon and at Bridge Crescent Community Flat on Tuesday from 9.30 a.m.-noon. Telephone service (Citizens Advice Direct) available Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on (01324) 823118.

Masonic News

A regular meeting of Lodge St. Andrew Denny & Loanhead No. 176 will be held tonight (Thursday) at 7.30 p.m. This will be a business meeting and will include the annual general meeting and the nomination and election of office bearers for 2015-16. Members are requested to return their Christmas Draw tickets as soon as possible and are reminded that donations of prizes for the draw can still be made. A list is on the noticeboard in the lodge. Some tickets remain for the Hogmanay celebrations and can be obtained at a cost of £8. RWM Kevin McLean sends best wishes to all members and families, senior members and widows.

Wine Club

Denny Wine Club meets tomorrow evening (Friday) at the Broompark Centre, Denny, and subsequently on every second Friday of each month. New members are always welcome. Come along to learn about all aspects of wine making, from beginners to advanced levels.

Santa’s Sleigh

Santa and his sleigh will be assisted by the Rotary Club of Vale of Carron from 6-8 p.m. tonight (Thursday) visiting Reedlands Drive and Braes View areas. Date and times are subject to alteration due to weather conditions, road conditions or any other reason outwith the control of the Rotary Club of Vale of Carron. We are all volunteers but will try to cover as big an area as possible. Collection proceeds will go to Strathcarron Hospice, Falkirk Foodbank and Driving Force, Denny.

Carron Guiding

Carron Division Guiding would like to thank everyone that came along to the carol service on Monday night. It was a great success with the girls showing their talents performing in front of their friends and family. Thanks also to everyone for their donations of food for the Food Bank and also £240 for the Tiny Tabitha charity.

Buggy Group
