Girlguiding

We are a girl lead organisation with various age groups - Rainbows aged between 5 to 7 years, Brownies aged 7 to 10 years and Guides aged between 10 to 14 years. If you would like to come along and have fun with girls your own age learning new skills, playing games, overnight events then there are currently spaces in various units in Denny. If you are already on a waiting list somewhere then why not come along and give another unit the chance to make a difference and become a great unit. Baptist Church

The services on Sunday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. will be led by the Rev. Norman Graham. Visitors are always welcome. Children and young people meet during the morning worship and a crèche is available during all services. Prayer groups and study groups meet at various venues during the week. Parent and Toddlers groups meet on Thursday and Friday mornings at 9 a.m. At the moment there is a waiting list for places.

Line Dancing

The next class takes place tomorrow (Friday) in the Broompark Community Centre, from 1 to 2 p.m. Beginners and improvers welcome.

Make It Happen

The local meeting of the Make It Happen Forum for over 50s will meet in Bonnybridge Community Centre, Bonnybridge on Monday, September 1 from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. The Forum is an exciting new way for over 50s to get involved, discuss ideas and concerns and to have a real voice in your community. We’ve arranged for Braveheart to deliver a taster session on their new Optimise programme which is very informative and interesting. Citizens Advice

The bureau is located above Clydesdale Bank at 24 Duke Street, Denny and is open today (Thursday), Friday, Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A legal clinic is held every four weeks on Wednesdays by appointment only (4 to 5 p.m.). Outreach clinics are held at the Community Education Wing at Bankier Primary School today (Thursday) from 10 a.m. to noon, at Bridge Crescent Community Flat on Tuesday from 9.30 a.m. to noon and Denny Parish Church Hall on Wednesday from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Telephone service (Citizens Advice Direct) available Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on (01324) 823118.

Community Council

The council will meet in Baptist Church on Monday, September 1 at 6.30 p.m. Items on the agenda include, monthly updates from Police Scotland, Neighbourhood Watch Co- ordinator, Tenants and Residents association reps and the regeneration project team. DEAR, planning and licence applications and a Force 9 Energy community fund and investment opportunity will also be discussed. All welcome.

Westpark Church

Service on Sunday will be at 10.30 a.m. The service will be led by Rev Phyllis Wilson. Kidzone take part at the start of the service then move to the halls to enjoy their own activities. Creche facilities are also available. All Church Groups details in the Church website. On Wednesday morning the Wednesday Welcome is open from 10 a.m. for fellowship over tea or coffee followed by a short service from 11.15 to 11.45 a.m. Please note that the Open Door is closed for the summer. It re-opens on Thursday, September 4. The congregation are requested to bring their Doves of Peace from the Moderator to be displayed in Church on Sunday. They have also been asked to vote for the Driving Force on Finding Scotland’s Heroes by texting hero 8 to 87654 or vote online at stv.tv/realheroes before Friday, September 29. Magazines are ready for collection by elders for distribution prior to communion on Sunday, September 7 and elders are also reminded of the next Session Meeting on Monday, September 8 at 7.30 p.m. in Chalmers Hall. Appointment with God - This Bible Study/Prayer Group will now begin in April when the joint Church Lenten Bible Study finishes. The new date will be intimated later. Weekly Joint Churches Lenten Bible Study - At the local Clergy Get- together it was decided to run a weekly Joint Lenten Bible Study in Dunipace Church. The Study is titled ‘Walking the Pilgrim Way’. An invitation is extended to all members of the congregation to join with other local Christians to study God’s Word.

Denny Old

The Crafty Café re-starts this Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon in the hall. Come along and learn a new craft or share an existing one, or just pop in for tea/coffee and home baking. £2 per person. The Worship this Sunday is at 11 a.m. and will be led by the Reverend Donald Scott. The Sunday Club meets at the same time, and crèche facilities are available. The Lunch-Box is open on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1.30 p.m, serving soup, sandwiches, tea/coffee and home baking. All welcome. The Girls’ Brigade meets on Monday at 6.30 p.m. in the hall, and is open to all girls of school age. The Church Walking Group meets on Tuesday evening and leaves the Church at 7 p.m. You are welcome to come along and enjoy a gentle walk for about an hour.

Neighbourhood Watch

A new pilot scheme has been set up by Denny and District Community Council, regarding Neighbourhoodwatch. 20 Neighbourhoodwatch signs have been placed within Dennyloanhead, Fankerton, Stoneywood, Dunipace, Denny. The objective is to improve the district with Care in the Community with local Alerts.
