Community Discussion

Come along to discuss whether or not you believe sectarianism is an issue in your community. Speaker will be Mark Adams. Takes place at Denny Community Centre on Saturday, August 30 from 11.15 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tea and coffee will be provided. Line Dancing

Next class takes place tomorrow (Friday) in Broompark Centre from 1-2 p.m. Beginners and improvers welcome.

Buggy Group

Masonic News

Scottish folk duo Gaberlunzie provided the entertainment on Saturday and everyone attending enjoyed the show. The excellent buffet was well received at the interval so thanks to Lesley. RWM sent apologies as he was taking part in the Great War memorial event at Falkirk Town Hall. Bookings are already being taken through Lesley at the bar or Helen on social media for the Robbie Williams tribute night on Saturday, October 12. Early booking is recommended for this one. Tonight (Thursday) members of the Lodge are working a Mark Degree at Lodge Neptune (Kilwinning) Saltcoats No. 442. The mini-bus leaves at 6 p.m. from Kirkslap.

Toyzone

Parent/Carer and Child Group will restart on Monday, August 25 in the Archibald Russell Centre, Dennyloanhead, and Tuesday and Thursday, August 26 and 28 in the Broompark Centre Denny. Classes run from 9.15 to 11.15 a.m. Spaces available in all classes for children from birth to nursery age. Come along make new friends and have fun. For more details telephone (01324) 823290.

Denny Baptist

The Point youth clubs meet this Friday, August 22 at 6 p.m. for the juniors and at 7.30 p.m. for seniors. New members always welcome. The guest speaker at the services on Sunday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. will be Mr Mark Laing from Stirling. Visitors are always welcome. Children and young folk meet during the morning service and a crèche is available during all services. Rainbow Hour for over 60s restarts this Tuesday at 2 p.m. for an informal meeting and afternoon tea. Parent and Toddlers Groups restart on August 28 and 29 at 9.30 a.m.

Westpark Church

Service on Sunday will be at 10.30 a.m. The service will be led by Mr Ivar Struthers while Phyllis is on holiday. Kidzone take part at the start of the service then move to the halls to enjoy their own activities. Creche facilities are also available. All church groups details in the church website. On Wednesday morning the Wednesday Welcome is open from 10 a.m. for fellowship over tea or coffee followed by a short service from 11.15 to 11.45 a.m. Please note that the Open Door is closed for the summer. It reopens on Thursday, September 4. Board Meeting on Monday, August 25, at 7.30 p.m. in Chalmers Hall. Members are asked to support Driving Force who have been nominated as one of the RBS real heroes. This is being featured on STV at 8 p.m. on August 22 and we would encourage the congregation to vote for this excellent service. Appointment with God - This Bible Study/Prayer Group will now begin in April when the joint Church Lenten Bible Study finishes. The new date will be intimated later. Weekly Joint Churches Lenten Bible Study - At the local Clergy Get-together it was decided to run a weekly Joint Lenten Bible Study in Dunipace Church. The Study is titled ‘Walking the Pilgrim Way’. An invitation is extended to all members of the congregation to join with other local Christians to study God’s Word.

WASP

Wider Access to School Project annual registration is Thursday, August 28, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in the Denny High School Assembly Hall and from 6.30 to 8.30 p.m. in the WASP Project. Check our website for class schedule, and if you can’t manage, print off one of our registration forms from the website and mail in your £6.50 plus any class fees to WASP, Denny High School, Herbertshire Park, Denny FK6 6EE. Citizens Advice

The bureau is located above Clydesdale Bank at 24 Duke Street, Denny and is open today (Thursday), Friday, Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A legal clinic is held every four weeks on Wednesdays by appointment only (4 to 5 p.m.). Outreach clinics are held at the Community Education Wing at Bankier Primary School today (Thursday) from 10 a.m.-noon, at Bridge Crescent Community Flat on Tuesday from 9.30 a.m.-noon and Denny Parish Church Hall on Wednesday from 9.30 to 11.30 a.m. Telephone service (Citizens Advice Direct) available Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on (01324) 823118.
