Citizens Advice

The bureau is located above Clydesdale Bank at 24 Duke Street, Denny and is open today (Thursday), Friday, Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. A legal clinic is held every four weeks on Wednesdays by appointment only (4-5 p.m.). Outreach clinics are held at the Community Education Wing at Bankier Primary School today (Thursday) from 10 a.m.-noon, at Bridge Crescent Community Flat on Tuesday from 9.30 a.m.-noon and Denny Parish Church Hall on Wednesday from 9.30 a.m.-11.30 a.m. Session to complete online benefit applications is held at the Community Education Wing at Bankier Primary School on Thursday from 10 to noon. Telephone service (Citizens Advice Direct) available Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on (01324) 823118.

Denny Old

The offering at the joint Good Friday service in support of Christian Aid raised the sum of £195.35. During the Easter Day service last Sunday, Mhairi McFarlane was commissioned as a Girls’ Brigade Officer by the Rev. John Murning and Area Commissioner Beth Young. The Crafty Café meets on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the hall. Come along and learn a new craft, or just pop in for a coffee. Cost £2 per person. The annual Forth Bridge walk for Christian Aid takes place this Saturday. If you would like more information or to take part, please speak to Janet Rhodes. The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated on Sunday at 11 a.m., and will be led by the Rev. John Murning. Creche facilities will be available. The Lunch Box will be back as usual on Monday from 11 a.m. – 1.30 p.m., serving soup, sandwiches, tea/coffee and home baking. All welcome. The church Walking Group has now begun on Tuesday evenings and leaves the church at 7 p.m. You are welcome to come along and enjoy a gentle walk for about an hour. The Wednesday evening Café at the Cross takes place next Wednesday when an informal communion service will be celebrated.

Westpark Church

Worship on Sunday will be at 10.30 a.m. will be led by Rev. Phyllis Wilson. Kidzone take part at the start of the service then move to the halls to enjoy their own activities. Creche facilities are also available. The Wednesday Welcome is open from 10 a.m. for fellowship over tea or coffee followed by a short service from 11.15 - 11.45 a.m. Please note that the Open Door is off this week for one week only but open again next Thursday from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on for tea, coffee and lunch.

Masonic News

A regular meeting of Lodge St. Andrew (Denny & Loanhead) No. 176 will be held tonight (Thursday) at 7.30 p.m. when the business will include the Mark Degree. This is the last regular meeting of the session, although an emergency meeting is scheduled for next month. Last Thursday RWM Kevin McLean led a fine deputation to Lodge Eastmuir No. 1126 and initiated one candidate into freemasonry. On Saturday, an Easter party for youngsters was held in the hall and included a visit from the Easter Bunny plus lots of fun, games and a bouncy castle. There are just a few places left for the Pat Cairns tribute night on Saturday, May 3 featuring the songs of Neil Diamond and Kenny Rodgers. Baptist Church

The Point youth clubs meets tomorrow (Friday) at 6 p.m. for junior ages and at 7.30 p.m. for senior pupils. New members are welcome. The services on Sunday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. will be led by the Rev. Norman Graham. The children and young people meet during the morning worship and a crèche is available during all services. Bible study and prayer groups meet at various venues during the week.

Community Meeting

A meeting takes place on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. in Denny Community Centre to discuss inequality issues in Denny and surrounding areas and how we can tackle them. Tea and coffee provided. Contact Claire for more information on (01324) 610950.

Dunipace Juniors

The Pace are at home to Larkhall on Saturday. Kick-off is 2 p.m.

Line Dancing

Next class takes place tomorrow (Friday) in the Broompark Centre from 1-2 p.m. Beginners and improvers welcome.

Pyjama/onesie Party

The party takes place in The Wheatsheaf on Saturday night to raise money for Denny Gala Day.

Buggy group
