The time-out group meets tomorrow (Friday) at 8 p.m. at the Wheelhouse. Anyone needing a lift please contact Irene Rennie. The Worship on Sunday is at 11 a.m. and will be led by Sandra Mathers. Creche facilities will be available. The Lunch Box will be open on Monday from 11 a.m.-1.30 p.m., serving soup, sandwiches, tea/coffee and home baking. All welcome. The Girls’ Brigade resumes on Monday at 6.30 p.m., and is open to all girls of school age. All intimations for Sunday service to be with Janet Rhodes by Thursday night at the latest.
On Sunday Rev. Ray Thomson will lead worship at 10.30 a.m. Kidzone take part at the start of the service then move to the halls to enjoy their own activities. Creche facilities are also available. The Wednesday Welcome is open from 10 a.m. for fellowship over tea or coffee followed by a short service from 11.15-11.45 a.m. Please note that the Open Door is open from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today (Thursday). All welcome. The next meeting of the board will be on Wednesday, April 22 in Chalmers Hall at 7.30 p.m.
The services on Sunday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. will be led by Rev. Norman Graham. Visitors are welcome. The children and young people meet during the morning worship and a crèche is available during all services. The Rainbow Hour for over-60s meet on Tuesday at 2 p.m. for the fortnightly informal meeting and afternoon tea. New members (male and female) will be welcomed. Prayer groups meet at various venues during the week.
Denny Community Council will be taking part in the national ‘Big Lunch’ scheme on June 6. More details will be posted nearer the time. Meanwhile, more volunteers are needed to join the Denny and District Neighbourhood Watch. No need to attend meetings. A regular meeting of Lodge St. Andrew, Denny & Loanhead, No. 176 will be held next Thursday and will be the last of the current session. The business will include the mark degree carried out by RWM Kevin McLean and the lodge office bearers. Last Thursday RWM Kevin presided over a large attendance of Brethren and visitors including a deputation from Lodge Dolphin No. 911, headed by their RWM Bro. Ross Hardie. One brother was raised as a master mason in a fine ceremony by the 176 office bearers. During the meeting, RWM Bro. Kevin conferred Honorary Membership on Bro. Tom Scobbie, WSW of Lodge Dolphin No. 911. The 225th anniversary of the granting of the lodge charter will be celebrated with a rededication ceremony and dinner on Saturday, August 22 and members wishing to attend should contact PM Mackay to reserve tickets for both events. Last night RWM Kevin led a deputation to see PM Robert McLaren affiliate to Lodge St. Michael No. 38 in his new adopted home town of Crieff No. 38.
A singing class for children who wish to perform at this year’s gala takes place on Tuesday evenings from 5.45-6.30 p.m. Cost is £1 per child. The Wider Access to Schools Project (WASP) based at Denny High resumes on Monday, April 20. Classes on offer include jewellery, Otago, creative writing, camera club, French club, art club, Spanish and more. New classes include slate/tile mosaic, which begins on May 28. A WASP flower arranging outreach class in Bonnybridge Community Education Centre begins on Thursday, April 23 from 7-9 p.m. The WASP Switch It On Drop In Unemployed club starts in Archibald Russell Centre, Dennyloanhead, on Thursday, April 23 from 10 a.m.-noon.
