Citizens’ Advice

The bureau is located above Clydesdale Bank at 24 Duke Street, Denny and is open today (Thursday), Friday, Monday and Wednesday from 10am to 2pm. A legal clinic is held every four weeks on Wednesdays by appointment only (4pm to 5pm). Outreach clinic is held at the Bridge Crescent Community Flat on Tuesday from 9.30am to noon. Puppy Training

Puppy Training and Socialisation Classes starting in Fankerton Hall, Fankerton (near Denny) on Monday, August 24 from 7pm to 8pm. Easy fun learning for the whole family, bring the kids too. Teach your puppy good manners and basic commands using kind effective methods. Class sizes are restricted to a maximum of eight puppies. Baptist Church

The speaker at the 11am service on Sunday will be the Rev. Stuart Murdoch. The guest speaker at the 6pm service will be Paul Ford from Dunblane. Visitors are always welcome. A summer Sunday school will operate during the morning service and a crèche is available during all services. Parent and Toddlers groups are due to restart on August 20 and August 21.

Credit Union

Savings are safe with Falkirk District Credit Union and low cost loans are available once regular savings established. Anyone who lives or works in the area within the boundary of Falkirk Council can join, junior savers welcome. Wine Club

The monthly meeting of Denny wine club will take place in Broom park community Centre. On Friday, August 14 and subsequently on the second Friday of each month. Come and learn all aspects of wine making from basic to advanced winemaking, social wines to competition standards. To find out more, come along to our club night. New members are always welcome, Come and try this challenging and rewarding hobby.

Step Forth

The walk leaves from the community flat in Bridge Crescent at 6.30pm. The walk will be lead by our walk leaders who will show you new paths in the area. Walks are open to everyone and are free, so if you want to get out in the fresh air, meet other people and discover new places to walk. Come along. Westpark Church

The service on Sunday will be led by Rev. David Wandrum and children will be made welcome joining in at the start of the service then moving to the halls where they can enjoy stories and crafts. There are also creche facilities for younger children. Sympathy was extended to the family of Mr. James Wilson, who died last week. The funeral is in Westpark Church on Saturday, August 15 at 10am followed by interment in Denny Cemetery. On Wednesday the church is open from 10.30am for teas/coffees followed by a short service from 11.15-11.45am. All welcome. The church halls will be used as a Polling Station on Thursday for the local By-election so TocH are meeting elsewhere on that evening. On Monday, August 17 an afternoon tea is being held and a short film shown. Tickets costing £4 are available from the Wednesday Ladies with the proceeds being donated to the mini-bus fund. The Open Door re-opens on Thursday, August 20 from 10.30am - 1pm. Come along and support this outreach event and enjoy good food cooked on the premises and fellowship with your friends. There will be afternoon tea and a short film show by Bill Hall, in aid of new minibus fund, in the McTaggart & Chalmers Halls on Monday, August 17 from 1.30pm. Tickets cost £4. All welcome. Graham’s sponsored walk raised about £900, all monies not in yet. Thanks to all who supported him.

Denny Old

The Worship on Sunday is at 11am and will be led by Sandra Mathers. This will be the closing Service for the Holiday Club, which has been running this week. Creche facilities will be available. The Lunch Box resumes on Monday from 11am-1.30pm, serving soup, sandwiches, tea/coffee and home baking. All welcome. The Walking Group meets at the Church on Tuesday at 7pm. (If it is raining at 6.30pm the walk will not take place). You are most welcome to come along and join the Group, the walks are gentle and suitable for everyone to enjoy. All intimations for Sunday Service to be with Janet Rhodes by Thursday night at the latest.

John McNally, MP will hold a surgery in the bureau from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. every second Friday of the month commencing August, 14 2015.
