Comedy legends David Baddiel and Dylan Moran are among the big names who will perform at this year’s Funny in Falkirk festival.

The line-up for the annual event, which runs from July 19-30, was revealed today and is likely to prove a hit with stand-up fans from across the country.

Des Clarke visited Falkirk High Street today to launch the town's annual comedy festival.

More than 30 comedians will perform at venues in Falkirk, Grangemouth, Larbert, Dunipace and Bo’ness.

In a coup for the organisers, David Baddiel will begin his first solo tour in 15 years at Falkirk Town Hall (FTH) on July 29.

The 48-year-old Londoner rose to national prominence in the early 1990s as one half of a double act with impressionist Rob Newman, before launching his successful partnership with Frank Skinner.

Irish comedian Dylan Moran, the creator of the critically acclaimed TV series ‘Black Books’, will make his Falkirk festival debut at FTH on July 30.

Also heading for Falkirk this summer is ‘Phoenix Nights’ star Dave Spikey, who plays at FTH on July 25, and well-known Hollywood actor and subversive comedian Omid Djallili, who takes to the FTH stage on July 28.

Glaswegian comic and award-winning radio DJ Des Clarke will play Larbert’s Dobbie Hall on July 27, and the ever-popular Fred MacAulay will return to Funny in Falkirk for the fourth year in succession with two shows at Behind the Wall.

Other Scots on the line-up include Janey Godley and alt-comedy veteran Vladimir McTavish.

There will also be a series of specially-screened comedy films at The Hippodrome in Bo’ness and Falkirk’s Vue cinema.

The Falkirk Herald is once again the festival’s official media partner and will be publishing a series of exclusive interviews with those performing.

The festival is organised by the Scottish Comedy Agency, a sister company of Salt-n-Sauce Promotions which runs the Stand comedy clubs in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and is being staged with support from Falkirk Council and Falkirk Delivers.

Festival tickets can be purchased via www.funnyinfalkirk.com or www.ticketSOUP.com and can also be bought in person from The Steeple box office in Falkirk High Street, or by calling (01324) 506850.

Discount ‘early bird’ tickets are available from today until June 10 at www.funnyinfalkirk.com.
