AN ELECTED official is pushing for the promotion of pedal power in her constituency.
Councillor Joan Paterson is so impressed with Grangemouth Transition Town’s Bicycle Library and Bikes for All initiatives she even teamed up with Helix project director Mike King recently to ride a tandem through the town to highlight the environmentally friendly schemes.
Councillor Paterson said: “This makes sense and ticks all four ‘F’ boxes - it helps fitness, it’s fun, it’s good for the finances with the price of petrol these days and it’s good for an environmentally friendly future.”
The Bicycle Library aims to give the community access to bicycles for use around the town, without having to buy them, while Bikes For All is looking to sell bikes, refurbished to nearly new status by Dawson Bike Club, at cost price so more people can start using this green and healthy form of transportation.
