Vicious assault in Denny leaves man in hospital

A man in his fifties was rushed to hospital after a vicious assault in Denny town centre last night.

Police sealed off Davies Row at both ends on Sunday following the incident at around 6.50 p.m.

The victim has been named locally as Des McCart. It’s thought he had to be given CPR as he lay in the street.

He was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital before being transferred to Edinburgh’s Western General for treatment where he remains in a serious condition.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Officers in the Forth Valley division were called to Davies Row in Denny following a report of an altercation. A 56-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

“Officers are following a positive line of enquiry. Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 or, alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
