Armed police officers surrounded a house close to Falkirk town centre.
The incident, which occurred shortly before lunchtime, saw police cordon off Bruce Street and part of Argyll Avenue.
Negotiotations then took place with the occupant of one house.
However, it was being brought to a conclusion around 3.30 p.m.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Officers in Falkirk were called to an address in Bruce Street, Falkirk, at around 11.30 a.m. this morning following a report of concern for the sole occupant inside the house.
“A cordon is in place to maintain public safety while enquiries continue. Police would like to apologise for any disruption caused to residents at this time.”
