The Falkirk area’s finest examples of young sporting stars of the future are all in the running to be named this year’s Wee Champion.
Run by the Howgate Shopping Centre in conjunction with The Falkirk Herald, the Wee Champions competition aims to highlight the importance of encouraging youngsters to take up and stick in at all kinds of sporting activities.
Three finalists have been selected from three age groups and voting began last week, with over 500 people already selecting their favourites from each category. The full list of finalists is:
Seven years and under – Emily Fawkes, Lucy Forrest and Ryan O’Donnell
Eight to 12 years – Kieran Daly, Sammy Ralston and Jack Webster
Thirteen to 17 years – Stuart Irving, Chloe MacDonald and Christine Tytler
Margaret Foy, Howgate marketing manager, said: “The quality of the finalists across all age categories is great and they are all passionate about their sports. The idea behind Wee Champions was to celebrate the Commonwealth Games and to find young people in the local area who are committed to their sports and their clubs.
“Some of these finalists have already won medals and enjoyed success in their sport.”
Vote for your Wee Champion online at www.intohowgate.co.uk or pick up a voting form and return it to the Howgate Help Desk. Everyone who votes will go into a draw for a £50 gift card.
