The weather’s getting warmer, the nights are getting longer and the holiday season is getting closer.

It means that it’s the ideal time for everyone to enjoy the outdoors and spend some time preparing for this year’s Race for Life in Falkirk.

The women-only event takes place at Callendar House on Sunday, June 8, and is one of 300 sponsored races taking place across the UK this summer to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.

The beauty of Race for Life is that it can be as challenging or as easy as you want it to be.

Some entrants run to cross the 5K finishing line first, while most just go for a casual walk with family and friends.

Cara Inglis, Race for Life events manager in Falkirk, said: “Race for Life events are not competitive. They are not about being fit or fast.

“Some women might worry about standing alongside runners decked out in lycra but nothing could be further from the truth.

“The reality on the day is that participants of all shapes, sizes and ages generate an electric energy as they unite in their determination to defeat cancer.”

Women in Glasgow and Edinburgh will take on the challenge this weekend.

The Glasgow events attracts thousands of women from across the city, making it the biggest event in Scotland.

However, Falkirk females still have plenty of time to enter their event which last year saw 2021 take part raising over £116,700 for Cancer Research UK.
