Straight ‘A’ student Jess Henderson has been accepted to study at one of the UK’s more prestigious universities.

The 17-year-old from Larbert will be heading to Oxford to study biomedical engineering in the autumn.

The S6 Larbert High School pupil applied to the university and was over the moon to find she had a place.

Jess, who has had a keen interest in the sciences since childhood, said: “I have always wanted to study at Oxford so I sent off my application.

“I was then asked to an aptitude test followed by a series of interviews and finally found out last week I had a place. “I screamed when I opened the letter. I can’t wait to get started.”

Parents Laura and Ian are proud as punch their daughter is going to the notoriously selective university and Larbert High rector Jon Reid said: “We are immensely proud of Jess, it’s an incredible achievement.”
