Fans of ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’ are in for a scrumdiddlyumptious treat with a party night at Grangemouth Town Hall next month.

Stars and props from the 1971 movie will be in abundance at the event on March 14-15.

All the surviving Oompa-Loompas will be at the party experience along with Julie Dawn Cole, who played Veruca Salt and Diana Sowle, better known as Mrs Bucket, and many of the props from the cult classic.

Gregor Gillespie owns the largest collection of Willy Wonka memorabilia and is staging the event.

Gregor (24) from Bo’ness is a huge fan of the children’s film and owns props including a golden egg, a Scrumdiddiliumptious bar, an Everlasting Gobstopper and Grandpa Joe’s costume from the film - all of which will be displayed at the party night. He bought them from a collector and if the night is a success, he plans to take it all over the world.

Gregor, an entertainer and movie memorabilia agent, said: “There is a lot of love for ‘Willy Wonka’ and the response to the party night has been even better than expected.

“When I heard the largest collector of ‘Willy Wonka’ memorabillia was selling up I knew I had to buy it. It would have broken my heart to think of the collection, which took 20 years to build, being split up and going around the world.

“Grangemouth is just the first stop, it’s the world premier and I’m then hoping to take it around the UK and over to America so fans can experience a piece of the movie up close.”

Guests will be able to taste lick-able wallpaper, be treated to a performance of ‘I Want It Now’ from Julie Dawn Cole and have the chance to mingle with Oompa-Loompas.

Gregor, who also owns a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car, added: “Nothing like this has ever been done in the area and I’ve got a lot of surprises up my sleeve for Golden Ticket holders.”

Golden tickets cost £20 and VIP tickets, which include a backstage meet and greet and goodie bag, £25. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are available from the Steeple Box Office in Falkirk High Street or by calling 07510 106157. Over 18s
only.
