Thrill-seeker Dean McLachlan is going to great lengths - and heights - to support a popular appeal.
The 23-year-old from Grangemouth is gearing up for a terrifying bungee jump in New Zealand next month to raise money for a little girl who has captured people’s hearts.
Earlier this year, The Falkirk Herald reported that a group of friends and relatives were getting together to raise money for four-year-old Hollie Shaw who suffers from a rare intestinal failure.
Because of a strict routine of treatment and care, Hollie needs ongoing specialised equipment such as a medical bed and a special wheelchair.
Various events have taken place locally so far, but now the Helping Hollie campaign is about to go Down Under.
Dean, who will do the jump on September 10, said: “I was going on holiday to New Zealand anyway and I thought I would try to do something while I was there.
“I did a bungee jump in New Zealand in 2011, but this one is much higher at 134 metres. But, when you get up on that platform, you just go for it.”
