Making the headlines with a hat-trick of success stories are The Falkirk Herald staff.

Chief reporter Jill Buchanan was named Weekly Newspaper Journalist of the Year at the Johnston Press Awards.

She beat off competition from the company’s 154 weekly publications throughout Scotland, England and Ireland to receive the award from chief executive Ashley Highfield at a glittering ceremony in Leeds last week.

The Falkirk Herald has once again been shortlisted in the Weekly Newspaper of the Year category at the Scottish Press Awards, an accolade previously received in 2008, 2009 and 2012.

It is also in the running for the Front Page of the Year with its entry ‘Rod Signs Up!’ which revealed veteran rocker Rod Stewart would play at Falkirk Stadium.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Glasgow next month.
