A fashion graduate has her dream job in London sewn up and is now hoping her knitwear designs grace the hallowed pages of Vogue.

If Rebecca Peattie (26), from Brightons, gets enough online votes she will make progress to the next round of the Muuse X Vogue Young Womanswear Award 2014 where her innovative Celtic-themed creations will be judged by Italian Vogue’s senior fashion editor Sara Maino. Four hundred young designers are hoping for the prize,

with 50 going in to the next round.

The winner will be given the opportunity to create a collection with Muuse and feature in Vogue.

The former Graeme High School pupil said: “I saw an advert about it and just sent off a couple of images of my work. It would be a dream come true to win it. Every fashion designer wants to be featured in the pages of Vogue.

“My granny and other women in the family taught me knitting when I was still at school. That’s what inspired me and gave me my love of fashion and knitwear.”

From knitting in school to studying fashion and textiles in Edinburgh and then Galashiels, Rebecca headed south to study fashion knitwear design at Nottingham Trent University and graduated this year.

In August she will be moving to London to take up a post at the Sophie Steller Studio.

Voting for the Vogue competition closes on July 11. Anyone who votes will go into a prize draw to win £500.
