The smiles were as beaming as the sun in Bainsford on Saturday as the community turned out in their droves for Dawson Gala Day.

Gala committee chairperson Angela Smith said 2014 was one of the best days in living memory as the gala spirit and the holiday weather gripped families.

Angela said: “It was an absolutely brilliant day, the best I’ve been involved with and the feedback we’ve had from everyone has been amazing too.

“We’d like to say a massive thanks to everyone for their support and who made the effort to make it a day to remember.”

Gala girl Kayleigh McMeechan and boy Regan Barlow were the toast of the parade which included a monster truck, a spider climbing wall, W3L wrestlers, Kuk Sool Won martial arts experts, stilt walkers, Brazilian band Sambalistic, the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders pipe band, African drummers and local musician Eve McAuley providing some songs.
