Four people were taken to hospital after a serious fire at a sheltered housing complex in Larbert last night.

Emergency services rushed to Sir John Graham Court around 8.30 p.m. after reports of a fire alarm ringing.

Fire crews from Larbert and Denny found a ground floor flat well alight and an unknown number of people unaccounted for.

Back up from Falkirk and Bo’ness stations were called in to help due to the severity of the fire.

Two people were rescued by firefighters and along with two other casualties, taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital for treatment. Their condition is currently unknown.

At the height of the blaze, more than 35 firefighters were tackling the incident.

Police closed off Main Street from Larbert Cross to Dundarroch Street while the fire was ongoing. It eventually re-opened around 11 p.m.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

A spokeswoman for Hanover (Scotland) Housing Association which owns the 18-flat complex said they were unable to comment until further details were available.
