Callendar Park turns red for Santa dash

Waiting for Video...

Callendar Park was a sea of red at the weekend as hundreds of Santas gathered en masse.

More than 200 people, including children and a dog, dressed up as Father Christmas for the run to raise cash for Strathcarron Hospice on Saturday.

It’s the first time the hospice has organised the Santa dash and staff are hailing it as a great success with people eager for it to become a fixture on the local events calendar.

Fundraising assistant Kirsty McIntyre said: “It is the first one we’ve ever done and we’re absolutely delighted with the response. Over 200 Santas took part.

“Everyone really enjoyed the day and they were all talking about doing it next year again already because there was such a great atmosphere.”

The hospice held the same event on the Sunday at the University of Stirling which was also a great success. Thousands of pounds are expected to be raised once all the donations are counted.
