People in the Falkirk area who go that extra mile to help improve their area and environment will be officially recognised this year.

Falkirk Council’s litter strategy team is once again running its annual Community Awards to promote and reward the good work of individuals, groups, schools and businesses all doing their bit for their area.

A litter strategy team spokesman said: “We have a wide variety of new categories in 2016 and, in a change to previous years, we are asking you to nominate yourself, or your group, for an award within these categories.”

Awards up for grabs this year include: Wow Factor – which recognises individuals or groups who have done something a little out of the ordinary or something extra special to improve their community; Litter Buster – a thank you to people who are tireless in their mission to rid the area of litter; Up, Up and Away – recognition for the work of new groups just starting out; Kaptain Kleen – an award for schools and nurseries tackling litter in their grounds and local communities.
