Absolut has a new twist in its stable of flavoured vodkas with Absolut Wild Tea (£27, 70cl, Harvey Nichols),
It combines black oolong tea flavours with Nordic elderflower. Wild Tea works with sweet and sour mixers (or even a cuppa), and here’s a suggested serve:
Absolut Wild Smoky Tea
50ml Absolut Wild Tea, 20ml apricot brandy, 25ml lemon juice, 15ml egg white, 2.5ml gomme syrup, a peaty whisky such as Ardbeg Ten Years Old for the finishing touch.
Pour all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Dry shake. Add ice and shake.
Strain into a chilled coupette glass that has been rinsed with a peaty single malt whisky and garnish with an orange twist.
For cocktails on a grander scale, bring out the best brandy such as Remy Martin VSOP Mature Cask Finish (£32.99, 70cl, major supermarkets) for a classy cognac twist on this Cuban classic.
French Mojito
50ml Remy Martin VSOP cognac, one lime cut into wedges, two spoons of brown sugar, eight mint leaves, soda water. In a tall glass, lightly muddle the lime with sugar and the mint.
Add the cognac, crushed ice and stir with a long spoon.
Top with soda water and garnish with a mint leaf.
