Looking forward to her crowning moment this weekend is schoolgirl Charli McGuckin.

She takes over from last year’s queen, Rowan Fraser – and she is hugely looking forward to her special day.

Event organiser Sharon Tait said: “Charli’s coronation ceremony will mark the start of a fantastic afternoon of entertainment for all the family, with everything from football competitions to music and dance, a dog show, races, and much more.”

She concedes a sunny day will make a big difference, but with so much happening the weather isn’t expected to affect the turnout at an event which has already more than proved its worth in just two years.

There will be stalls galore, zoo animals, birds of prey, an inflatable city and plenty of ice cream and other refreshments to enjoy too.

Sharon added: “We’re really pleased at how quickly this event has become a must-do attraction for hundreds of local families, and every year we’re adding things and improving the entertainment to make it even better.”

The programme kicks off with a grand parade assembling at 11am from Dunipace Juniors’ Westfield football park through the town to Herbertshire Gala Park, where local businessman William Bryan of Bryans Coaches will have the honour of crowning this year’s Gala Queen.

The event will also see the Denny and Dunipace flag unfurled for the first time.
