A burst main in Grangemouth Road has disrupted the water supply to hundreds of homes across the north side of Falkirk.
Engineers from Scottish Water will shut off the broken pipe at 11 p.m. this evening for around six hours in order to carry out emergency repair work.
It is expected that some properties in Grahamston, Middlefield, Bainsford and Langlees will experience a temporary loss of normal supplies during that time, possibly followed by discoloured water once the supply is restored.
A spokesman for Scottish Water said: “The water main suffered a burst last week and has had a second burst.
“When repairs are carried out on a burst water main there is always a risk of a secondary burst and, unfortunately, that is what has happened on this occasion.
“The loss of supply is expected to be for a maximum of six hours. Discolouration of the water might occur after the reinstatement of normal supplies.
“However, Scottish Water engineers will be working to flush the network to minimise any discolouration. Any customers who do experience discoloured water are advised to run the cold water tap in their kitchen until the water runs clear.”
