A new website has helped a Falkirk drum business hit the right notes with customers.

A new website has helped a Falkirk drum business hit the right notes with customers.

The success of dD Drums’ latest venture was helped by support from Business Gateway and has seen its sales in the first month of operation match what it did in the previous year.

Boss David Dowell was able to access three days of fully funded support from a web expert plus a £5000 Scottish Enterprise Digital Voucher Grant which all helped create www.dddrums.co.uk.

The site, which went live in May, has also attracted new customers from Brunei, Canada, Germany and France.

Mr Dowell said: “Seeing the sales come into the new site is fantastic. I started the business to provide drum tuition and expanded into retail 12 years ago.

“Increasingly, the shop was absorbing a significant proportion of the money being generated by the drum school and I knew something had to be done to stop this so turned to Business Gateway for help.

“Our adviser highlighted we needed to replace our DIY website which, admittedly, had been neglected, especially last year as we were very busy with the drum school and with events. She gave us access to a specialist whose input was invaluable when writing our brief for the new site. Her help with the Digital Voucher application also meant we secured a grant that will cover half the cost of the website.”

David, who was a bus builder before turning his love for music into a full-time occupation, currently employs seven people at his Ladysmill base.
