Five Falkirk venues have been selected as finalists in the Best Bar None Scotland National Awards.

They will all be vying to be named best licensed premises in the country when the presentation is made in Edinburgh on March 26.

Previous winner Behind the Wall has reached the final in both the Independent Pub and Best Use of Innovation categories.

Falkirk’s Sportsters is in the Best Bar category, City in Best Nightclub, the Orchard Hotel in Best Hotel Bar; and The Corbie Inn, Bo’ness, in the Heart of the Community category.

The Best Bar None scheme, sponsored by Diageo, Molson Coors, Heineken, Tennents, Maxxium and Chivas Brothers, is designed to celebrate and reward licensed premises that look after their customers and help to improve Scotland’s night time economy.

Sarah McKenzie, Falkirk Best Bar None co-ordinator, said: “I am delighted five venues in the Falkirk area are finalists. This is real recognition of the effort that owners and managers of local pubs, clubs and hotels are putting into ensuring best practice at their venues for safety, responsibility, staff training and concern for the community.”
